A diplomatic dispute between Canada and the United Arab Emirates is going to seriously affect Canadian travelers to the country.
According to Breaking Travel News:
Under the new regulations, a 30-day, non-renewable visa will cost $250, a three-month visa $500, and a six-month multiple entry visa will cost travellers $1,000.
The fees – which were announced in the autumn – come into effect on January 1st
The UAE, particularly its city state of Dubai, is major travel hub linking Europe, Asia and Africa.
The dispute has arisen because of Canadian airlines exercising more landing rights at UAE airports while not providing the same in return for UAE based airlines.
It doesn’t appear there will be a resolution to the problem anytime soon, so Canadians traveling to the UAE or Dubai are going to suffer the increased cost.
